The QuakeForge Project

Welcome!

QuakeForge is a 3D first-person shooter game engine based on id Software's legendary Quake and QuakeWorld game engines. Our purpose is to improve the state of the game by improving the engine, making a good base for game and engine modifications, and making it accessible to the largest number of players we can. We like it, and we think you will too.

The long-standing issue with very bad sound quality on sound-cards that do not support 44.1kHz audio has been fixed. If you have the hardware, even 192kHz is supported.

Grab a fresh copy from our git repository and give it a spin! Note, however, that libsamplerate(-dev) is required.

Update:Up to 8 channel (7.1 surround sound) sound is supported for input. Any extra channels will be down-mixed to stereo as QF does not yet support surround-sound output.

As you can see the web server is back online. There's probably a few things broken still (members, SSL not back just yet but hang on) but I expect a full recovery by the end of the week. Sorry for the downtime. Stay tuned for a full report of what happened.
